Diving in Gran Canaria: best time, visibility and water temperature

Plan your dive season with local notes on visibility, water temperature and why Gran Canaria works all year.

Gran Canaria is a year-round diving island. Summer brings warm water and easy holiday energy; winter stays mild, quieter and very diveable. The south coast is especially reliable because it is sheltered from much of the Atlantic mood.

Visibility is commonly good and can feel crystal-clear on calm days. Water temperature usually moves from around 18-20°C in winter to 23-25°C in late summer and autumn. Conditions decide the site, so we plan each day with the sea, your level and comfort in mind.
